MAX PRO, How to access the
Windows XP Recovery Console is a text-based utility like DOS, which can be
used for booting the computer and perform repair / troubleshooting when Windows
is damaged or cannot boot normally. This method should be used after the Safe
Mode and other startup options do not work. With Windows XP Recovery Console in
general we can do the following things:
- To manipulate files and directorie
- Disable-enable the Windows system service or
driver
- Manage partitions (create and delete partitions)
and format the hard drive
- Repair Mater Boot Record / boot sector on the
hard drive and others.
To access the Windows
XP Recovery Console there are at least three ways that you can do, namely:
1.
Accessing the Windows XP Recovery Console
directly from the Installation CD
To access the Windows XP Recovery Console from the Installation CD / CD
Setup Windows XP, do the following:
- First we prepare the installation CD of Windows
XP,
- Set computer / BIOS in order to boot from CD
- Turn on the computer and let it boot from CD
- Press R when there is a command Press R for
Repair
- Enter the number that shows a Windows XP
installation
- Enter the administrator password or directly
enter wrote if not in-password
- At this stage we can begin to perform
troubleshooting on the computer.
2.
Accessing the Windows XP Recovery Console from
the Boot Menu option
To be able to access the Recovery Console from the Boot menu, first we
need to install the Windows XP Recovery Console first, do the following:
- Boot the computer as usual on Windows
- Insert the Windows XP CD in the CD ROM
- Click Start - Run, type: D: \ i386 \ winnt32.exe
/ CMDCONS where D is the CD ROM drive letter and of course adjust the drive
letter of your CD ROM drive.
- Windows setup window will appear click YES to
start the installation of the Recovery Console
- Follow the next process to completion and press
the Finish button.
- After finish, try restarting the computer and
will be display as below

Accessing the Windows XP Recovery Console CD UBCD4Win.
This way you can use the Ultimate Boot CD if it has a CD for Windows
(UBCD4WIN). To access the Recovery Console with UBCD4WIN CD is almost the same
way as No. 1, namely:
- Prepare UBCD4WIN CD, then boot the computer from
the CD
- At WIN UBCD4 menu select Windows Recovery
Console
